🥅 Five Championship bets to place today

Here's your five-teams multi ahead of tonight's EFL Championship matches!

Reading vs Coventry

Reading go into this week’s clash against Coventry in sixth and with a four-point buffer over chasers – an advantage which they will be confident of at least consolidating with the visitors winning just one of their last five (D2, L2). That victory came last time out for the Sky Blues with 1-2 success at Millwall, however that marked just their second away win of the season after seven defeats from 12 starts on the road. With Reading in decent nick and successful in seven of their 11 home games this term, the Royals are worth supporting here at odds-against to reverse their October defeat to Mark Robins’ charges in the midlands.

TIP: Reading to win at FT

Derby vs AFC Bournemouth

The league positions dictate that the visitors are generally much the better side of this pair and Derby succumbed to their third defeat in four against Rotherham here at the weekend (0-1) which got Wayne Rooney’s permanent managerial tenure off to the worst possible start. But we can expect Rooney to ignite some kind of response from the Rams this Tuesday and the fact Bournemouth have won just four from 12 on the road (D6, L2) tempers enthusiasm for backing the away side. We’re predicting a 1-1 draw based on the visitors’ high number of away stalemates and lack of recent wins, with under 2.5 goals appealing as the main wager.

TIP: Under 2.5 match goals

Blackburn Rovers vs Swansea City

The second-placed Swans opened up a four-point gap between themselves and the chasing pack on Saturday thanks to a 0-2 success at Barnsley and they go into this midweek clash on the back of five wins and one draw from their last six. Swansea have won four of those half dozen matches by a 0-2 score-line to take their tally of clean sheets this term to a remarkable 14 from 24 outings, and we think another 0-2 in the Swans’ favor is the most likely outcome at Ewood Park here with the hosts winning just one of their last five (D2, L2). Rovers have lost just one of their last eight home games and it took leaders Norwich City to upset that sequence in mid-December (1-2), though Swansea look to be more or less on a par with the Canaries and they have the quality to beat this Blackburn side once again having easily claimed their scalp three months ago.

TIP: Over 1.5 match goals

Watford vs Barnsley

With just two wins from 11 on their travels, there are still huge question marks surrounding Watford’s inability to produce their best football on the road and they lost their first away game under the guidance of new boss Xisco Munoz at Swansea on 2nd January (2-1). Watford look a good bet to bolster their home record this week and solidify their top six position against a Barnsley side who have lost two of their last three away trips and six from 12 overall this season.

TIP: Watford win at FT

Rotherham vs Stoke City

Stoke are hard to fancy for this midweek clash despite being 14 places and 17 points ahead of Rotherham, who recovered from successive defeats to edge out relegation rivals Derby 0-1 at the weekend. Paul Warne’s side will take confidence from that crucial win into this fixture and the Millers look capable of holding Stoke and their limited attack. With the visitors involved in a glut of stalemates over the last few weeks and only seven of their 24 games this term producing over 2.5 goals, we’re predicting a draw in this one and also forecasting a goalless ninety minutes.

TIP: Under 2.5 match goals
