Antoine Griezmann’s post-match comments after their Supercopa final loss to Athletic Club Bilbao has not gone well with his teammates.
After the game, the Frenchman claimed that “we didn’t defend well, we didn’t talk… When the ball goes out, someone has to shout” a move that has placed him at loggerheads with his teammates and the club’s technical bench according to a report from Cadena SER.
According to the report, some believe these words were targeted towards Marc Andre Ter Stegen who didn’t have the best night; a clash that saw the sending off of captain Lionel Messi too.
The comments came after the Frenchman scored a brace in the game that were all canceled by their opponents with an extra-time strike from Iñaki Williams denying the Catalonia side their first piece of silverware this season.
Attention for Barça now turns to UE Cornella in the Copa Del Rey in 2 days’ time with the club revealing that they had appealed the Messi red card. A win for the club over Corbella might hand them another date with Bilbao in the competition.
❗In the dressing room the players did not like the words of Antoine Griezmann after the loss to Athletic Bilbao in which he said that someone had to shout during the set pieces and that they should work on it more.#FCB 🇫🇷— Barça Buzz (@Barca_Buzz) January 19, 2021
