Cristiano Ronaldo became the greatest goalscorer ever as he guided Juventus to the Supercopa Italiana title on Wednesday night. 

The Portuguese went one ahead of Josef Bican with his 760th goal, one above Bican, even though the Czech FA has refuted the numbers. 

Ronaldo though tops the hat trick charts among active players, with Lionel Messi second on the list. 

Here is the top-five list. 

5. Robert Lewandowski (24 hat tricks) 

The Polish striker has been in devastating form for Bayern Munich in recent seasons and seemed to be in the mood this campaign. 

He has already netted two hat tricks this season; against Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha Berlin. 

4. Luis Suarez (29 hat tricks) 

The Uruguayan's age has taken a few paces off his game but he still remains one of the best strikers in world football. 

He is currently the joint-top leading goalscorer in LaLiga with 11 goals, and he is among the leading strikers in the hat trick list. 

3. Lionel Messi (54 hat tricks)

One player who needs little or no introduction at all. The Argentine is arguably the best player ever to play beautiful games and has over the years led scoring charts in the Spanish LaLiga. 

Among them are 54 hat-tricks, with 26 of those coming in LaLiga, and eight in the UEFA Champions League. 

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (56 hat tricks)

The battle to be the world's best between the Portuguese and Lionel Messi is an unending race. Ronaldo though edges tthe Argentine in this, with 56 hat tricks to his name. 

Just like Messi, Ronaldo has managed eight in the Champions League, with  36 coming in the domestic league action. 

1. Pele (92 hat tricks)

His records are a bit obscure but it does not take away the fact that he is, perhaps, the greatest player ever to play the beautiful game. 

He leads the charts for the most number of hat tricks, which he achieved many decades ago. 

The numbers are still contentious, but the records place him at the top.
