19-year-old Arsenal sensation Bukayo Saka has been a revelation for the Gunners since the second-half of 2019-20, and he's now a permanent fixture in the side.
Last night Saka coolly rounded Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to give Arsenal the lead after trailing early at St. Mary's. The 19-year-old was then on hand to provide the assist for Alex Lacazette's strike which gave the Gunners a two-goal cushion and all three points. It was Saka's fifth top-flight strike of the season.
Earlier this month, Saka put the finishing touch to a delightful team effort against West Brom:
💫 Arsenal: EPL goals scored as a teenager in a single season
- 🇫🇷 Nicolas Anelka - 13 (‘98-99)
- 🇫🇷 Nicolas Anelka - 6 (‘97-98)
- 🏴 Bukayo Saka - 5* (‘20-21)
- 🏴 Theo Walcott - 4 (‘07-08)
- 🇪🇸 Francesc Fàbregas - 3 (‘05-06)
- 🇧🇷 Gabriel Martinelli - 3 (‘19-20)
Fellow teenage star Gabriel Martinelli hit double figures last season for Arsenal but this campaign as been blighted by injury for the Brazilian.
Saka's fifth goal of the Premier League season means that he's joined some pretty illustrious company, with only Nicolas Anelka scoring more times in a single campaign while still a teenager for Arsenal.
Saka and his Arsenal teammates will now shift their focus t preparations ahead of the visit of in-form Manchester United to Emirates Stadium this Saturday.
