DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns are set to make an emergency signing of Maritzburg United’s de Reuck.
Sundowns are caught in a crisis in central defence, following the exit of veteran defender Wayne Arendse, death of Motjeka Madisha, injuries to the likes of Brian Onyango, Musa Lebusa and Rivaldo Coetzee, as well as last weekend’s red card to the makeshift solution Mothobi Mvala.
According to Soccer Laduma, Sundowns are speeding to sign the league’s reigning 23-year-old Defender of the Season, De Reuck - before the PSL transfer and CAF registration deadlines next week.
“Mamelodi Sundowns could announce Rushine De Reuck before the end of the weekend, the Siya crew can reveal,” Soccer Laduma wrote.
“It’s emerged that the Brazilians, after being linked with the Maritzburg United defender for more than a year now, are close to agreeing on terms with the Bafana Bafana star to move to Chloorkop by Monday.
“The second transfer window in the Premier Soccer League is in full swing after it was brought forward to January 18 until February 15, so there would have still been enough time for the two clubs to conclude talks.
“However, according to Siya sources, Sundowns want De Reuck to be part of their CAF Champions League squad and are attempting to get him registered before the deadline on Sunday – their first match of the group stages is scheduled for February 12.
“It suggests that the two clubs have agreed on the move,” concluded the outlet.
