Nigeria and Napoli’s striker season is going from bad to worse after a nasty head injury on Sunday.
Following a Covid-19 setback and prior serious injury, the 22-year-old Osimhen left was carried off the pitch last night, before taking an ambulance after a head collision with Atalanta’s Cristian Romero - while his side went on to lose 4-2.
Napoli later released a statement to confirm that Osimhen, a club record fee signing, will undergo scan before spending a day or two in medical care.
Full Club Statement:
"Osimhen suffered an injury to his head in the final minutes of Napoli’s match at Atalanta. Following the game, he underwent medical tests but they did not yield a conclusive result.
"The player will remain in Bergamo until tomorrow, under the observation of Raffaele Canonico, who leads the medical team at Napoli.
"Meanwhile, the Italian side will host Spanish La Liga’s Granada in a UEFA Europa League last 32 battle on Thursday," ended the brief.
