German striker Timo Werner has explained the reason he has only delivered 10 goals and nine assists in 33 games.
The former RB Leipzig attacker joined the Premier League giants on a hefty €53,00m deal on 1 July 2020 - but he did not quite expect a torrid challenge.
“At the beginning, I had this self-image that I can go on doing my thing here, but in the last few months I have been brought down to earth. It's the way in England that you never have a quiet game,” Werner said to Kicker via Goal.
"The players are 1.9 meters tall, brutal physically and really fast - including the defenders.
"It's impressive what intensity is going on in the Premier League,” concluded the 24-year-old who made his name in the Bundesliga with 78 goals and 32 assists in 127 games.
Up next for Werner and Chelsea is UEFA Champions League last 16 business away to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
