Man United left-back Luke Shaw could face a ban following his comments at the end of their 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday evening.
The Englishman, during an interview with Skysports, revealed referee Stuart Attwell's alleged conversation with Harry Maguire over a penalty incident in the first half.
Attwell did not award a penalty after Callum Hudson-Odoi seemed to have handled the ball inside the box, despite a VAR check.
“The ref even said to H, if it’s a pen it’s going to cause a lot of talks after. So I don’t know what happened there.”
His comments were however retracted later, with the club indicating the defender misheard Maguire's conversation with the referee.
According to FA regulations, any comments about officials that 'imply bias or attack their integrity can lead to a ban or any other punishment as under Rule E3 (1).
Shaw will have to wait until Wednesday to know his fate as the FA normally has 'three working days to decide on action.
