Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has advised Aston Villa captain to leave his club if he is to be a world-beater.
Grealish was strongly liked with leaving Villa last summer with United having been one of the teams said to be interested in his services but a deal didn’t materialize with the English midfielder signing a new deal with his boyhood club.
According to Scholes in an interview with Optus Sport, the player will only be world-class if he joins one of the biggest clubs in England this after the former midfielder was asked if he thought Grealish was a contender to win the PFA Player of the Year award for 2020-21 season.
"Don’t get me wrong, I love the player, but if he was doing this at Man United, Liverpool, City, one of the top clubs, then he’d be up there, he’d possibly be top three. There is no pressure on Villa. If he is at a top club then he needs to win every week. He needs to leave Villa to prove that (he is a top player).
"Jack Grealish is probably the same (as Paolo Di Canio). It is all about him at Aston Villa. He needs to get out now to a club that needs to win every week, there is pressure to deliver trophies. He is capable of doing it, but there will always be doubt until you do it," Scholes said.
There are reports that Villa value the player at £80 million ($112m) with the player having been key for them this season as they try to fight for European places.
