Liverpool vs Chelsea: Team News

Liverpool are set to welcome both Alisson Becker and Fabinho for Thursday night's Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The two sides, battling for a top-four finish, will square it out at Anfield, with both desperate for a win to boost their hopes of playing in Europe next season.

Alisson missed Sunday’s win at Sheffield United on compassionate grounds, while Fabinho has been out of the Reds’ last four matches due to a muscle issue.

“Ali trained now the full week and, yes, we should expect that he is able to return.

“Fab has now five or six sessions in his legs and we have to make a decision how we deal with that but he looks good and is ready for the squad for sure.”

There was good news also on Diogo Jota, who is set to return after months out with a knee injury.

“Diogo had this little stomach problem and he trained yesterday only a little bit; he was only out there for the warming-up and the rondos and then had a little run,” Klopp outlined on Wednesday.

“I got the message this morning that he feels better again, so we will see what we can do with that.

“As I said, before he looked exceptionally well, but unfortunately he got ill overnight, so now we have to see how big the steps are he can make towards the team again.”

Elsewhere, Jordan Henderson will sit out the clash against Thomas Tuchel's side as he is yet to recover following groin surgery, while Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip remain long-term absentees.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will miss Thiago Silva's services as the Brazilian recovers from a thigh injury he picked during the Premier League match against Tottenham.

“Thiago made his first training with the team but did not finish the last exercise, just to be taking no risk. I assume he trains today but not 100 percent so he will not join us for Liverpool.
