Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano will be the relatively unfamiliar venue tonight as an attack-minded Atalanta side attempts to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against the mighty Real Madrid.
An injury-hit Los Blancos side escaped Bergamo with a narrow win despite having only 11 first-team players fit and available for the tie, although their cause was helped greatly by the 17th-minute dismissal of Atalanta midfielder Remo Freuler, a decision which was hotly-disputed around the globe.
With Atalanta currently enjoying a five-match winning streak away from home in the Champions League, the longest such run of any team in the competition, they'll not travel with any fear.
Here's the latest team news ahead of the second-leg in the Spanish capital kicking off at 22:00 CAT.
⚪️ Real Madrid
Madrid will again be without the services of Dani Carvajal through injury, while Alvaro Odriozola, Marcelo and Mariano Diaz are all unlikely to be available. Key midfield anchor Casemiro is suspended, so talented Uruguayan Fede Valverde should come into the side.
Sergio Ramos made his return from injury against Elche and should feature, but Eden Hazard has suffered another setback. Marco Asensio and Vinícius Júnior are expected to flank Karim Benzema in a front three.
🧮 Likely XI (4-3-3):
Courtois; Vázquez, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Kroos, Valverde, Modrić; Asensio, Benzema, Vinícius
✅ FACT: Karim Benzema hit a first-half brace in Real’s last UCL game played as hosts, and he has 69 goals in overall in the competition, the fifth-highest tally in history.
The team from Bergamo will be without Hans Hateboer who has a fractured foot, while Remo Freuler is suspended. Colombian striker Duván Zapata started on the bench against Spezia on Friday but will be back in the side here alongside compatriot Luis Muriel, Atalanta's top-scorer this season.
Freuler will be replaced by Mario Pašalić; the Croatian midfielder scored twice against Spezia last time out.
🧮 Likely XI (3-4-1-2):
Gollini; Tolói, Romero, Djimsiti; Mæhle, De Roon, Pašalić, Gosens; Pessina; Muriel, Zapata
✅ FACT: Since last season, La Dea's continental contests have produced 54 goals at an average of 3.38 goals per game.
