Manchester United’s pivotal next transfer window will be determined by the success of getting Erling Haaland.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s supporting recruitment team is confident the key piece to the team’s bright future is a new number nine, and must be one of the best in world football.
“Manchester United have made Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland their number one striker transfer target ahead of the summer transfer window,” the Manchester Evening News (MEN) reported.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already had a major impact on Erling Haaland's burgeoning career - as Manchester United are poised to renew their interest in the Norwegian sensation.
“After missing out on the Borussia Dortmund striker last season, the Manchester Evening News understands Solskjaer and football director John Murtough agree that he remains the number one priority in attacking quarters this summer,” the outlet added.
Meanwhile, Haaland has a €75million (£64m) release clause, a considerably lesser figure than Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, who the publication has reported is a pursuit United have given up on.
“That is when United missed out on Solskjaer's compatriot, who is reported to have a €75million (£64m) release clause at Dortmund which becomes active next year,” MEN concluded.
Up next for United is the UEFA Europa League last 32 second leg battle away at the San Siro on Thursday.
