🇭🇷 Breaking: Zagreb's coach gets jail sentence and resigns ahead of Spurs match

Dinamo Zagreb coach Zoran Mamic has left the Croatian giants over a fraud case guilty jugement.

The club confirmed the shocking news in an official statement on Tuesday, two days before meeting Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League last 32 second leg clash.

"Although I don't feel guilty, I resign as I said before I would do if the sentence was confirmed. I wish all the good luck to the club," the club’s statement quoted Mamic, as reported by Sky.

The Croatian court confirmed in a statement that Mamic and his brother, Zdravko Mamic, will serve separate terms, with the former Zagreb coach to take a minimum of four years.

"The Supreme Court has confirmed the Osijek Municipal Court's verdict sentencing Zdravko Mamic to six and a half years of imprisonment for the embezzlement of 116 million kuna (£13.13m) from Dinamo football club," said the statement published by HRT.

"Zoran Mamic's sentence has been reduced to four years and eight months from four years and 11 months, while Milan Pernar had his sentence reduced to three years and two months from four years and two months,” the brief ended.

Meanwhile, the club’s former player, Damir Krznar, will take over as interim coach. Thursday’s second leg follows after Spurs earned a 2-0 leg in the reverse fixture in London last week.
