Germany will miss the services of Niklas Sule when his side takes on Romania in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Sule did not travel with the Germany squad due to a strain in the back of his left thigh. The defender has been ruled out of next week's match against North Macedonia.
"Niklas Süle is not with the German on Saturday National team to the World Cup qualifiers traveled to Bucharest," a statement from Germany read.
"The defender from FC Bayern Munich will be out of the two games against Romania on Sunday and North Macedonia on Wednesday (both from 8.45 p.m., live on RTL) in Duisburg. Süle’s muscular problems (strain on the back of the left thigh) do not yet allow it to be used."
"All the other 22 players on the team started the trip to Bucharest as planned after they tested negative for COVID-19 three times on Friday and Saturday - twice with rapid antigen tests and once with a PCR test."
The other 22 eligible players (excluding Jonas Hofmann and Marcel Halstenberg) all passed their COVID-19 tests and travelled to Romania:
