Chelsea's Mason Mount doubtful for England v Poland clash

England could be without Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount for their Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Poland.

The midfielder who has been having a sterling season for both club and country missed England’s Tuesday training session, with the player training with the medical and performance team, though no injury details were revealed.

England will be hoping that they can have their man available after he scored in Sunday's 2-0 win over Albania.

Mount has been a key man for Chelsea this term, playing more minutes (2,231) than any of his team-mates. His inclusion in the team has been warranted as he has created 69 chances-41 more than anyone else.  He has been the most creative payer in the Blues team having made 168 passes into the box; the most in the team.

England will be up against a Polish side who are without record goalscorer Robert Lewandowski who has returned to Bayern Munich after sustaining damage to the collateral ligament of his right knee during the 3-0 win over Andorra, in which he scored twice.

Poland issued a statement on Monday to confirm Lewandowski would miss Wednesday's match in order to avoid the risk of aggravating the injury.

Apart from Lewandowski, Poland will be without Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kamil Piatkowski, who become the latest players to test positive for coronavirus.
