Frank Lampard emerges as a surprise candidate for the England U-21 job

Immediate former Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard has emerged as a surprise candidate for the England U21 job.

Current manager Aidy Boothroyd’s future has been called into question after a dismal start to England U-21’s Euro campaign and according to the Mirror, the English FA is considering Lampard among other candidates.

England got off to a horrid start in the U-21 Euros with two losses in the opening two games but while there is still a chance for qualification to the next round, they will need other results to go their way. Boothroyd’s contract is set to end after the tournament with the reports claiming that the FA has not been impressed by his style of play despite the array of talent at his disposal.

Lampard took charge of Chelsea in 2019 and managed a respectable 4th place finish in his first season however failure to get results in the league meant he was sacked for German Thomas Tuchel who is yet to taste defeat at the club.
