Marcelo Bielsa responds to reports of new Leeds United deal

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has dismissed reports suggesting he is close to signing a new deal at the Elland Roads.

Reports from Argentinian daily newspaper La Nacion reported Bielsa was 'very close' to signing a new two-year deal at Leeds United. However, Bielsa has dismissed the reports saying he is not close to reaching an agreement with the club over a new deal.

"That information is not real. I ignore the origin. Those things, either the club can say or I can say it, we are the ones who possess the information," he said.

The 65-year-old, who is in his third year as Leeds boss, helped the club to return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years. Before the start of the current campaign, Bielsa signed a contract extension of 12 months.

The Peacocks are currently 10th on the log with 45 points acquired from 31 matches.

In their recent match, Leeds beat league leaders Manchester City 2-1 despite playing the remaining 45 minutes with ten men following Liam Cooper's red card.
