Jose Mourinho is reportedly set to receive a £20 million compensation package after being fired from Tottenham Hotspur.
Mourinho's departure was announced on Monday morning, just six days before Tottenham's EFL Cup final against Manchester City.
The 58-year-old had just taken over as Spurs manager from Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019 and had two years left on his deal.
According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho's exit would cost the Lilywhites money because they would have to pay a huge severance fee to the Portuguese.
Spurs could hand over up to £20 million to Mourinho if he stays on gardening leave for the duration of his deal, according to reports.
That is, however, a far cry from the £30 million they would have had to pay the former Manchester United manager if he had triggered those bonus-related clauses.
Mourinho leaves the club with a record of 44 wins, 19 draws, and 23 defeats in 86 games as manager.
RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann is the early favorite to succeed Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though Bayern Munich is also interested in appointing him.
