Real Madrid legend Alonso reveals worst memory as a Madridista

Real Madrid legend Xabi Alonso has recalled his worst moment as a Madridista.

Speaking with his former teammate, Jamie Carragher on The Greatest Game Podcast, Alonso recalled one of his darkest memories while playing for Real Madrid. The former Liverpool and Real Sociedad player sats the 5-0 loss to Barcelona at the Nou Camp remains his worst night he lived on a football field.

"The league game at the Camp Nou that we lost 5-0, that was the worst night I have lived on a football field," he said.

"Twenty minutes into the game I confess that I wanted to leave, go home now, shower, and come back. It was so painful that it gave us great determination. We could not be as naive again, or we would not have beaten them the following season," he added.

Alonso is currently the manager of Segunda División B club Real Sociedad B and is attempting to push his team to the second division in Spain.
