Real Madrid have handed a massive injury blow with defender Dani Carvajal set to miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.
Carvajal played for 77 minutes during Madrid's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. The defender picked up a hamstring injury and was brought off in the second half with Marco Asensio taking his place.
The Spaniard is expected to miss the UCL return leg next week his season is already over and will be sidelined for the remainder of the campaign.
"Following the tests carried out today on our player Dani Carvajal by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semimembranosus muscle in his right leg," a statement from the club read.
"His recovery will be monitored."
As reported by Spanish newspaper Marca, the 29-year-old has suffered a tear in his hamstring and will not play again this season.
