Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has agreed to stay with the Spanish giants beyond this season, according to reports in Spain.
Messi's contract with Barcelona is set to expire at the end of the current season and the Argentine future has been up in the air since he told the club his desire to leave. The club's captain looks set to stay despite having not agreed on a new contract with the Catalans according to Spanish broadcaster TVE.
The report further claims the Argentine has told club president, Joan Laporta, he wants to remain and make the club stronger again.
Messi was on the verge of leaving the club after Ronaldo Koeman took over but his exit was blocked and ended up remaining at Nou Camp.
The Spanish giants were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain at the quarter-finals stage.
