Manchester City defender Eric Garcia is on the verge of sealing a move to Barcelona.
The Spanish international has confirmed he will not sign a contract extension at the Etihad Stadium when his current deal with the Premier League giants expires this summer with Guardiola having praised his attitude despite having had less playing time.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Garcia’s agent Ivan de la Pena has been in talks with the Catalans since the start of 2021, with the deal set to be confirmed later this month.
The 20-year-old who will be leaving on a free will be Ronald Koeman‘s first signing this summer, as the club look to take advantage of the free transfer market in the coming months.
Apart from Garcia, Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, who is out of contract in the summer, has been muted as a target for Barcelona as they seek to revamp their side ahead of the coming season.
Never in doubt. Eric Garcia is set to join Barcelona as a free agent, Pep Guardiola has confirmed: “Eric Garcia is one of my favourite players. He’s not on the bench because I think he’s going move to Barcelona...”. 🔵 #MCFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 25, 2021
