Aston Villa is set to raid league rivals Manchester United for the services of defender Axel Tuanzebe. In the summer.
Villa manager Dean Smith is desperate to boost his defensive options and according to Football Insider, he sees Tuanzebe as a perfect fit for his squad with the player having been with the team before when they were in the Championship.
According to the reports, the club is preparing for the departure of Bjorn Engels, who has fallen down the pecking order and could be on the verge of an exit from Villa Park in the summer.
Tuanzebe was a critical figure in Villa’s success in the Championship during the 2018/19 campaign, helping them secure direct promotion to the top-flight with the youngster having been linked with a permanent move to Villa Park immediately after promotion but a deal didn’t go through.
The center back has struggled with a lack of game-time at United with the player managing just over 200 minutes of league football this season. He is behind the likes of Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, and Harry Maguire in the pecking order and with United being linked with a move for another defender, the Englishman might want to consider his options.
