Thierry Henry speaks out on Spotify's Daniel Ek offer to the Kroenkes

Henry claims that Spotify CEO Daniel Ek approached Arsenal's owners with a takeover bid.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry said that Spotify (SPOT.N) CEO and founder Daniel Ek has approached Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke's family to make an offer to buy the Premier League club, but that a takeover could take time.

Last week, Ek announced that he had acquired the funds to purchase Arsenal, which Forbes estimates is worth $2.8 billion. Arsenal legends Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Patrick Vieira were reportedly contacted by Daniel Ek to form a consortium to strengthen the potential deal.

However, the club's American owners, who have come under fire from fans since the club's unsuccessful attempt to create a separate European Super League, have rejected talk of a sale.

In response to Ek's interest, Kroenke and his son, director Josh, issued a joint statement saying they are "100 percent committed to Arsenal" and have no plans to sell a stake in the club.

"He (Ek) already reached out (to the Kroenke family) and said himself that he had collected the funds to make sure that he can put in a good bid," Henry told Sky Sports.

"They now need to listen. A lot of people have been screaming that they want the owner out. We are trying to offer a solution involving the fans and getting the DNA of the club back."

"One thing that I want to reiterate is that Daniel will not move away, he will be there waiting to see if they want to sell.

"That is going to take a very long time, we know what we want to do, but first and foremost we need to make sure that we can take over if they are listening."

Spotify did not respond to an emailed request for comment on Henry's findings, and Arsenal did not respond to an emailed request for comment either.

Arsenal was one of six English clubs to sign up for the planned European Super League before withdrawing in the face of fan, player, and government opposition.
