🇰🇪 Tusker coach Matano reacts to return of football

Tusker FC coach Robert Matano is excited about the imminent return of football after the suspension of sports in Kenya was lifted.

Sports activities in Kenya were suspended a month ago in a bid to curb the right number of coronavirus infections. However, over the weekend there was a huge relief for all sportsmen in the counter after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the suspension.

"We are very happy and we want to thank the President for the decision he has made," said Matano as quoted by the club's official website.

"We say thank you to him because football is our life as players and coaches. We depend on football and when there is no football, there is no life. We are happy to be going back and I now urge the Federation and Ministry of Sports to chart the way forward to allow us to get back into training."

Tusker, who are currently on top of the table with 36 points after 16 matches will be up against KCB on May 14th. The Breweries were in fine form before the league was halted and despite being away from the action, Matano is positive the team will not lose steam.

"Every team is affected and it is not just us. According to me though my team is okay because at least we have the players training at home and they have been doing the program really well. When we go back, we will have the same focus, the same determination, and the same spirit," he explained.

"We have the same group together and it is not like the beginning of the season when we had to start from scratch. I am looking forward to start training and ensure that we remain focused to achieve our goals," Matano added.
