Norwich striker Teemu Pukki suffers ankle ligament damage

Norwich City will miss the services of Teemu Pukki for their final game of the Championship season against Barnsley after the striker picked up an injury.

Pukki damaged ligaments in his right ankle during Norwich City's 4-1 victory over Reading over the weekend. The 31-year-old could now remain a doubt for Finland's European Championship campaign, which begins on 12 June.

"Following City’s 4-1 Sky Bet Championship victory over Reading at the weekend, scans and further assessment on Pukki’s right ankle have since revealed ligament damage," a statement from Norwich read.
"Over the coming period, the Finland international will now undergo a further medical assessment to confirm the timeframe of the injury."

Teammate Oliver Skipp, who is on loan from Spurs has had surgery on a fractured metatarsal and will miss the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old has featured 47 times in all competitions for the Canaries this season, scoring once.

Pukki is City’s top scorer this season, amassing 26 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.
