Juventus won’t be leaving the season trophyless after beating Atalanta 2-1 on Wednesday night to win the Copa Italia title.
Zapata who were looking to make history in the competition started on the front foot with veteran keeper Gianluigi Buffon forced to pull a leg save as early as the third minute after Zapata had done some fine work.
While Atalanta looked dangerous in their play, Juventus couldn’t be wished away either going by their crisp display and they were to take a 31st-minute lead through Kyulusevski after a swift breakaway. Ten minutes later, Malinovskyi drew the host's level with a drive down the middle of the goal for a 1-1 scoreline at the halftime break.
Juventus came back stronger in the second half and were unlucky not to regain their lead in the hour mark when a swift move between Ronaldo and Chiesa saw the latter hit the boost with only the goalkeeper to beat. Chiesa however wasn’t going to miss in the 72nd minute after Chiesa and Kulusevski combined with the former applying a neat finish which was to prove an important goal in the tie.
