The South America football Federation Conmebol confirmed on Wednesday that Argentina would host the entirety of the 2021 Copa América tournament.
It had earlier been announced that Colombia would host part of the tournament however, they were stripped of their duties last week due to the social and economic crises in the country.
“The Argentine government presented Conmebol with a strict protocol for the 2021 Conmebol Copa América to be held in their country.
“In a meeting that took place in the Quinta de Olivos, the organizational and logistical aspects were evaluated, with the eventual authorization of additional headquarters, and everything concerning the sanitary protocols.
“The analysis of the dispute of this Conmebol Copa América and its sanitary protocols so that it can be organized in the country will remain under the rigorous study of officials of the Ministry of Health of the Argentine Republic.
“This was agreed by the President of the Argentine Republic, Alberto Fernández, and the head of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, in a meeting this afternoon,” Conmebol said in a statement.
It had earlier been rumored that the USA could have acted as hosts of the tournament having previously hosted the same in 2016.
