Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has suggested that racism once again showed its ugly head on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils drew 1-1 before suffering a 10-9 loss on penalties, making Villarreal the new Europa League champions.
Rashford has since claimed to have become the subject of racial slurs after Wednesday night’s game.
"At least 70 racial slurs on my social accounts counted so far," Rashford wrote on Twitter, as cited by the BBC.
"For those working to make me feel any worse than I already do, good luck trying,” he added.
Meanwhile, fans worldwide now turn attention to the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea this Saturday.
