Italian side AS Roma is in talks to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal according to reports in Italy.
Xhaka's contract with Arsenal is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and reports suggest that he could be on his way out. As reported by Sky in Italy, talks have already begun with both parties as Arsenal seek to secure €25m for the midfielder.
Mourinho, who was appointed as Roma boss towards the end of the season is believed to be keen to sign Xhaka. The former Tottenham boss had earlier hailed the midfielder as one of the most important players for the Gunners.
"He is the most important man in the entire Arsenal midfield. He's a true leader," he said two years ago.
The 28-year-old has been with Arsenal since his £35million move from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016, and he still has a contract with two years remaining at the Emirates Stadium.
