Manchester United is set to receive a windfall if Romelu Lukaku leaves Inter Milan this summer.
There have been growing rumors that the Belgian is considering his future at the club after the departure of manager Antonio Conte who is said not to have been impressed by how the club was conducting its business.
It has been further reported that Inter is embroiled in financial troubles after a tough year, despite ending the domestic season as champions of Italy for the first time since 2010.
Manchester Evening News reports that United inserted a clause in Lukaku’s deal when he left the club in 2019 for Inter in a deal worth £70 million. It is claimed that United inserted a right to 25% of any future transfer fee when they sold Wilfried Zaha to Crystal Palace and buy-back clauses in sales of Memphis Depay and Adnan Januzaj.
The club has a similar sell-on clause in place if Lukaku leaves Inter and the club will be hoping that he does so for a substantial amount although it is not specified what percentage United would be entitled to exactly.
Lukaku has been linked with a return to the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester City touted as possible destinations.
