Former Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri wants to take midfielder Ruben Loftus Cheek with him should he join Lazio.
Sarri is said to have drawn up a list of players he wants at the club with free agents Elseid Hysaj and Nikola Maksimovic who he worked with Napoli being on top of his list.
Apart from the duo, Italian publication Corriere dello Sport via Daily Mail reports that Sarri wants to have 25-year-old Loftus-Cheek who has fallen down the pecking order and looked short of confidence in recent years.
The midfielder is set to return to Chelsea in the summer after spending last season on loan at Fulham FC who were relegated back to the English Championship.
The report states that Lazio will soon ask Chelsea for the player on loan with the option to buy at the end of the season for a pre-agreed sum; the player’s contract at Stamford Bridge being valid until 2024.
The English midfielder and Sarri had a good relationship when the Italian was in charge at Stamford Bridge with the player scoring 10 goals in 40 appearances under the manager.
Sarri will be tasked with building a side with the capability of returning to fight for the Scudetto alongside the big guns in the division, while also taking on city rivals Roma who have recently appointed Jose Mourinho as boss.
