It seems Ben White has been on everybody's radar ever since his England call-up for the Euro 2020 summer tournament after impressing Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff. Tottenham are now the latest in the race to sign the 50 million pounds-rated center half.
He has had a tumultuous month. Following an unexpected inclusion in the first 33-man roster, he was named to the Euro 2020 team. With Tottenham linked to him, his summer might grow much larger. Bobby Zamora's opinion on White was released earlier this month, and it will undoubtedly delight Tottenham fans.
According to the Mirror, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United are vying for the £50 million-rated ace. Following White's initial exclusion from the 33-man squad, Zamora described him as arrogant.
“I remember Ben when I was at Brighton,” Zamora previously told Brighton's official website in June. “Ben was a young lad who would come up and train with us. He had confidence and a little bit of arrogance about him. Not too much, just from playing with the pros and not shying away.
“That goes a long way and you can see that now with how he is on the ball. I think he’s had a fantastic season this year. He looks a really good talent,” Zamora, ex-Spurs and Brighton striker, added. “He has a very bright future, and I can see him wearing an England jersey in the future.”
White would be a fantastic addition. He is now an England international and a fantastic player. He's versatile, he's a native talent, and he's only getting better. Spurs need him, since he has shown to be one of England's best defenders and one of the best in the Premier League outside of the top six.
But, even with a new manager, is it fair to expect Daniel Levy to spend £50 million on a single player? Spurs require players in a variety of positions. So, though signing White is improbable, they might use his services in the coming months. There isn't likely to be a deal until after Euro 2020.
