Manchester United will battle Premier League rivals Arsenal for the services of French youngster Eduardo Camavinga.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to shift his attention to a central midfielder if they can secure the services of Jadon Sancho before the new week ends with Camavinga being on top of his wishlist.
Daily Mail reports that United have been alerted to the fact Rennes are willing to cash in on the player now rather than risk him becoming a free agent but will have to battle it out with Arsenal who wants a replacement for Granit Xhaka who is said to be on his way out of the club.
United is expected to complete a £77million deal for Sancho and while their priority has been on a right-winger, they intend to buy a new central midfielder and a center back too.
United missed out on a deal for Borussia Dortmund and England player Jude Bellingham last year and see Camavinga as a more than able alternative with the player only having one year left on his current deal with Rennes.
Angola-born Camavinga made his debut for Rennes at 16 and has had a stadium named after him near Fougeres, where he grew up, in Brittany.
