Premier League side Leeds United is closing on a deal for Barcelona full-back Junior Firpo.
Firpo is said to be keen on a move away from Camp Nou following just 24 league appearances in two years since his move from Real Betis, and it was also reported he wanted a challenge away from Spain.
Reports from Dario AS indicate that a deal worth €15million has been agreed between the two sides, while Betis will claim 15% of that fee due to a sell-on clause in the left back's contract.
Barcelona paid around €18million upfront for Firpo’s signature in 2019, and they are now in desperate need of cash to fund some of their targets this summer despite already signing three players this summer.
According to the report, the deal is expected to be done in the ‘next hours’ after a long day of negotiations across Monday with Leeds pipping a host of clubs that included Premier League duo Southampton and West Ham for the players' signature.
Leeds are set to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona, confirmed. The agreement will be completed for €15m + add ons, final details then deal done. 🚨 #LUFC #FCB— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 28, 2021
