🇰🇪 KPL: Leaders Tusker batter Ulinzi in Nakuru; AFC Leopards clawed

Tusker FC strengthened their grip at the top of the Kenya Premier League table with a comfortable 4-1 win over Ulinzi Stars in Nakuru on Wednesday afternoon.

The Brewers went into the game on the back of two consecutive wins but were made to work hard for maximum points against the disciplined forces.

The hosts took the lead after just 11 minutes when Boniface Onyango headed home from a corner kick.

Tusker went all out in search of an equalizer and came close in the 14th minute when Henry Meja forced a smart save out of Saruni from a free-kick

It did not take long though to pull level as Ulinzi defender Brian Birgen turned Mark Namanda's brilliant low cross into his own net in the 19th minute.

There were few clear chances in the remaining minutes of the half, even though Tusker almost doubled their lead on the half-hour mark but Faraj headed wide a Meja cross.

Tusker continued their dominance in the second period and took the lead a minute after the whistle when Meja cut in a low cross from the left, with Marita arriving at the back post to tap the ball home.

Tusker then toyed with Ulinzi for long spells, missing a number of chances to finish off the game.

With a minute of normal time to play, Kepha added a third for the league leaders, with substitute Chris adding a fourth deep into added time.

The win ensured Tusker kept their place at the top of the table on 47 points, one ahead of second-placed KCB.

AFC Leopards 0-1 Kariobangi Sharks

Elsewhere, AFC Leopards suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks. Eric Kapaito scored the lone goal from the spot, his 16th strike of the season, in the 55th minute.

Ingwe could not find a response, dropping points for the fourth time in their last five.

Despite the loss, Leopards are still third on the table on 40 points, seven off leaders Tusker.
