Alvaro Morata's season has been a rollercoaster.
Missing sitters and scoring crucial goals before coming off the bench in the semi-final against Italy.
But after being introduced to the action at Wembley, the Spanish striker underlined his point by scoring another crucial goal - the equalizer – to keep his country's prospects of reaching the Euro 2020 final alive.
And in doing so, has written himself in Spanish football history:
6 - Alvaro Morata (6 goals) has scored more goals at the European Championships than any other Spain player, overtaking Fernando Torres' five goals. Answer. #EURO2020 #ITA #ESP https://t.co/5nhgllTGBS— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) July 6, 2021
Does that make him a legend though? Probably not. Especially after missing the penalty last night during the shootout, his critics are likely to dial up the volume levels when sharing their opinions of him.
