Brazilian left-back icon Roberto Carlos feels Luke Shaw could become one of the position's best in the world.
Shaw narrowly missed out on becoming Manchester United's Player of the Season in 2020/21 after helping the club to a second position in the Premier League.
The left-back continued his form into the 2020 Euro to aid England to make the semi-finals. The performances have thus trumpeted the wide sentiments of 'Shawbeto Carlos.'
"You can see he’s very motivated," Roberto Carlos said as quoted by Man United's media.
"He’s really improving, his performance against Ukraine was very good. He’s been an important part of this English team, along with all the others.
“He’s been improving each game and I think he’s got everything to get to the top. He’s the left-back for England and that, in itself, says a lot.
The former Real Madrid star concluded by avoiding comparing his own game to that of the Englishman but admitted to one key similarity.
"I don’t like comparing [players]," added the 48-year-old, who won 125 caps for Brazil. It’s two completely different periods in football. I had my time and now he’s having his.
“Similarities I think could be that he has strength and the desire to win, just like I did," Carlos concluded.
Meanwhile, Shaw is ready to feature in England's 2020 Euro semi-final against Denmark on Wedenesday.
