Tottenham Hotspur has registered an interest in Southampton Danny Ings as they bid to lure him this summer.
Ings whose contract with the Saints comes to an end in 2022 has refused to sign a new deal at St Mary's with the club said to be willing to offload him this summer instead of losing him for free one year later.
According to The Athletic (h/t Football.london), Tottenham has expressed an interest in signing the English forward but will have to fight for his services with Aston Villa and West Ham who are also interested in signing the player.
Ings signed for Southampton in 2018 from Liverpool, initially on loan before making the transfer permanent a year later, and enjoyed his most prolific campaign in 2019/20, finishing with 22 Premier League goals – the second-best in the competition for the season.
The player has been troubled with injuries throughout his career but his prowess in front of goal has never been in question as proved last season where he bagged 12 goals and set up four more in 29 league outings despite his season being messed with injuries.
Spurs are on the lookout for a backup striker for Harry Kane who has been linked with a move away from the club.
