The mighty Manchester United is taking on English Premier League newcomers Brentford in a preseason friendly at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered the team news and team line up hints. The game will be United’s third preseason outing after Derby County and Queens Park Rangers.
Ole has confirmed the return of Donny van de Beek and Diogo Dalot to training and are both likely to feature, while Dean Henderson and Bruno Fernandes did not come back early enough to make the squad.
Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay has delivered full training, while Brazilian left-back Alex Telles will be out for over a month due to injury, as Futaa reported on Tuesday.
"We’re adding more and more players now of course," Solskjaer told United’s media.
"Dean is back in training which is good for us, he won’t be ready for the Brentford game. Diogo and Donny have trained and they’re ready to play a part in the game, I would think they’ll be subs.
“Bruno is back in training. He’s not ready to join the Brentford game yet, but he’s not too far."
The Norwegian manager concluded to assure that the team will be dominated by young players, while also adding the main objectives of the friendly matches.
"We’ve got kids wanting to play of course," continued Ole. "They’ve enjoyed the pre-season. We didn’t enjoy the quick succession of the goals we conceded at the start of the second half, of course. We’ve looked at it and we need to tighten up a little bit in the shape in front of the back four and, hopefully, we can see that against Brentford.
"The training group is bigger with more quality and, hopefully, we’ll add layer to layer, but, of course, the season starts quickly and we haven’t got time to wait for anyone, whoever is the fittest and in the best shape will be in line to play," he concluded.
The match will begin at 20:00 BST, where a crowd of around 30 000 will be expected.
