Premier League side Arsenal has been handed a massive transfer boost in its quest to sign Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in Locatelli as a replacement for Granit Xhaka who continues to be linked with a move to AS Roma. However, the Gunners are facing stiff competition from Italian giants Juventus for the signature of the midfielder.
Giovanni Carnevali, the Serie A club’s CEO, has told Gazzetta dello Sport: "We’re waiting for the right bid for Locatelli.
"If it doesn't arrive, he'll stay here," amid speculation that Juventus are close to earning his signature after an impressive Euro 2020 campaign with Italy.
"We’re not going to sell our best players later in August."
The Italian's contract with Sassuolo is set to expire in the summer of 2023.
