Laliga giants FC Barcelona are the latest team to enquire about the availability of Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
After an impressive outing in Euro 2020, Locatelli has been linked with a move away with Arsenal and Juventus said to be the interested parties.
Mundo Deportivo reports that the Catalan giants have been in touch with Sassuolo for an update surrounding the midfielder's future with Miralem Pjanic set to move in the opposite direction.
Pjanic’s time at Camp Nou has been nothing short of a disaster. Having arrived last summer for an estimated €60 million fee but made just six league starts.
Barcelona are desperate to free up some space on the wage bill. As of now, they are unable to renew Lionel Messi’s contract or register the likes of Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia, or Emerson Royal for the new season.
Apart from Pjanic, the club wants to do away with Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann, and Ousmane Dembele to fee space for some new faces.
Sassuolo CEO Carnevali to Sky: “Tomorrow we’ll have a direct contact with Juventus for Locatelli. He wants to join Juve”.— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 29, 2021
“We’d be happy to sell Manuel to Juve... but they neet to pay the right fee. Arsenal made a bid to sign him and also a new English club is now in the race”.
