Defending champions KCCA FC had a bad start to the 2021 Kagame Cup following a 2-0 loss to Tanzanian side Azam FC.
In a match staged at Chamazi on Monday night, the two sides had a tight contest that saw the first half ended in a goalless draw. However, at the start of the second half, Azam took the lead through Peter Kasunda who later completed his brace in the 63rd minute.
KCCA now will put their focus on their second match against Le Messager Ngozi scheduled to be played on Thursday 5th.
Elsewhere, Uganda Premier League Champions Express registered a 1-0 victory over South Sudan's Atlabara.
Express took an early lead through Erick Kenzo Kambale, who converted from a spot-kick after the referee pointed for a penalty in the fifth minute of play.
The UPL side was forced to finish the match with 10 men after Abel Eturude was sent off in the 69th minute for a foul on Ernadez Tera.
