Serie A giants AS Roma are in talks with Arsenal over the potential of signing midfielder Lucas Torreira.
Roma boss Jose Mourinho has been in the market for a defensive midfielder and after seeing his advances for Nemanja Matic and Granit Xhaka go in flames, he is now angling at getting Torreira who has had less playing time in the past year.
The Uruguayan spent last season on-loan in Spain with Atletico Madrid and it is reported that he has no interest in staying in London as he wants more game time which he isn't being promised by manager Mikel Arteta.
Roma Press says Torreira's representative Pablo Bentancur is in London for a meeting with Arsenal directors and with his contract with the club running until June 2023, he could join Roma on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Torreira should not find it hard to adapt in Italy as he represented Sampdoria before leaving for Arsenal in 2018 in a deal worth €28m.
Arsenal are still hopeful to find a solution for Willian. He wants to leave the club since May - Arsenal are looking for bids for Willian, Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira. 🔴 #AFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 19, 2021
Al-Ahli links for Willian were completely fake - never started any negotiation. https://t.co/syoUu8ec5e
