Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed deadline day signing Takehiro Tomiyasu could make his debut this weekend against Norwich City.
Tomiyasu became Arsenal's sixth summer signing after he arrived on deadline day from the Italian side Bologna for a reported fee of £16m. The fullback finished his international duty with Japan but is yet to train with his new teammates.
Speaking ahead of the weekend's tie, Arteta hinted that he could find his way directly into the first team this Saturday.
“He is back in the country now. I will meet him for the first time today probably and train with him, see how he is, get a feel for it. He has been playing, so he should be completely fit. We have been impressed, that is the reason we decided to sign him.”
However, it will have to be cleared logistically first, with the Arsenal boss revealing that a work permit would be needed first:
“We need a work permit first. The club is working hard to try and achieve that in the next couple of hours.”
