Edouard Mendy was one of the three changes Thomas Tuchel made to his starting team as they played away to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.
The Senegal international picked a minor injury following a collision during the Blues' 1-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg in midweek as revealed by Tuchel.
"Edou got a huge hit, we tried everything in the last days but he never felt fully comfortable in diving," reported the German before kick-off.
His place between the posts was taken by Kepa Arrizabalaga, with Marcus Bettinelli on the bench.
Mendy was however seen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the rest of the team before kick-off.
Here is how the Blues lined up for the match against Nuno Espirito's side.
Chelsea starting XI: Kepa; Christensen, Thiago Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta (c), Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Lukaku, Havertz.
