Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given an update on Christian Pulisic.
The American has missed the last couple of games having first tested positive for COVID-19 before picking an injury.
The winger could have been in line to feature for the Blues in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, but Tuchel believes the match comes too soon for him.
“The game against Aston Villa is maybe too close, I hope I am wrong," he said after Chelsea's 3-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday evening.
Adding: "This is my impression with him not in training so far. Let’s see tomorrow. Maybe he had a good progression today. Maybe it is possible. It would be super nice to have him but it is doubtful.”
With matches coming thick and fast, Tuchel is expected to make changes to his starting lineup, resting a number of his key men.
Tuchel will also be having one eye on Sunday's Premier League clash against defending champions Manchester City, who currently sit fifth, three points off the Blues.
