Manchester United are working to tie down four players to new deals in the coming weeks.
The Daily Star is reporting that talks are ‘underway’ between the club and the player’s representatives with Jesse Lingard being among the players said to be on the verge of signing a new deal.
Lingard who scored United's winner in their last game against West Ham will be a free agent next summer with talks having begun over a potential new contract for the England international.
The 28-year-old has been linked with an exit after spending the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium, who was interested in a permanent deal for the midfielder during the summer following his impressive performances with the David Moyes side.
According to the reports, Lingard will want to assess his role in Solskjaer’s squad this season before committing to a new contract, having been frozen out over the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.
Apart from Lingard, United are keen on tying down Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, and Paul Pogba to longer deals; the latter being the other player out of contract next summer.
Manchester United are in direct contact with Jesse Lingard and his father since weeks - still hoping to extend his contract after opening proposal not accepted. Solskjaer is pushing directly with the player. 🔴🏴 #MUFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 19, 2021
