If Arsenal want to win the north London derby, they will have to take advantage of Tottenham's new signings.
That is the opinion of former Arsenal striker Alan Smith, who also believes that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang must be at his best if his old side is to win all three points on Sunday.
Tottenham are coming off back-to-back 3-0 defeats in the Premier League, falling to Crystal Palace and Chelsea, respectively.
Arsenal, on the other hand, has won 1-0 against Norwich and Burnley in their last two league games following a rocky start to the season.
Smith believes that Aubameyang will be crucial to Arsenal's success, and that the club's creative players should target the left flank with their new summer acquisitions. Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero are both newcomers to the Premier League.
Emerson struggled mightily in his Spurs debut against Palace, with Wilfried Zaha getting the better of him on multiple occasions.
And Smith is hoping Arsenal’s creative players will enjoy similar success on Sunday.
‘It’s going to be interesting to see Arsenal’s attack against Tottenham’s defence, given those creative players and if Arsenal can get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving and making good runs and playing with confidence,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘Tottenham have got a couple of new boys in Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero and that might be an area that Arsenal can exploit, perhaps down the left flank.
‘Just like Spurs, that’s the strength for Arsenal: the creative players they’ve got. They’ve got energy, ideas, real talent there.
‘In the coming weeks, if those creative players just behind Aubameyang can build up a relationship with the centre forward, then you’re in business. But so much depends on Aubameyang.
‘If it’s all falling down with him, if he’s not making the runs, if he’s not finishing his opportunities, then all that creativity comes to nothing.’
