Solskjaer to ask Southgate to snub Greenwood in his England call ups

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could ask England manager Gareth Southgate to omit Mason Greenwood from his next squad.

Greenwood's last call up by England ended up in disarray after he and Man City's Phil Foden broke the lockdown rues something that placed the duo under intense scrutiny.

According to the Daily Mail, Solskjaer feels that a call-up will put Greenwood under scrutiny at a time when he has picked form for his club; something he thinks might jeopardize the player's progress.

It remains to be seen if Southgate will heed Ole's advice as there is pressure from Jamaica who wants the United forward to represent them on the international stage; the player aid to be open to the idea should England continue to snub him.

The player and his family have reassured the FA that he wants to play for England and his return to the squad is viewed as only a matter of time. Greenwood will not be considered for the Under 21 selection because Southgate sees him as a senior player.

The 19-year-old has scored three goals in six appearances for United since the start of the season.
